How Financing Works — Global Capital Network
A Simple Path to Capital

Financing Is How
Founders Move First.

Most GCN clients don't wait until they've saved the full amount — they use smart, flexible financing to secure their spot, get in front of investors now, and pay over time while their business grows.

What Makes GCN Financing Different
✓
Soft Pull — Zero Credit Impact
Check your pre-qualification with any lender on our list without affecting your credit score.
✓
No GCN Fees or Markups
We curate lenders and earn referral compensation — you pay nothing extra to GCN.
✓
Stack Multiple Approvals
You don't need one big loan. Combine 2–3 approvals to hit your exact funding goal.
✓
Funds in 1–3 Business Days
Most lenders deposit directly to your bank account within 24–72 hours of approval.
The Case for Financing

Why Smart Founders Don't Wait

Timing in fundraising is everything. Waiting to save the full amount costs you something more valuable — momentum.

🚀
Access Investors Before Your Competition Does
Investor networks and events fill fast. Founders who move now get introductions, relationships, and term sheets — before the next cohort even applies.
💧
Preserve Your Cash for Operations
Using a personal loan to fund investor access keeps your business capital intact. You grow the business while you repay the loan — often with investor money coming in.
📈
The ROI Often Far Exceeds the Loan Cost
A $10,000 loan at 20% APR costs ~$2,000 in interest over a year. One investor relationship can unlock hundreds of thousands in funding. The math is clear.
🔄
Pay Over Time, Not All at Once
Personal loans have 2–7 year repayment terms. Your monthly payment is manageable — often $200–$500/month — while your business and network compound.

The Process

Four Steps from Interest to Funded

The entire process — from checking your options to money in your account — can happen in under 48 hours.

1
Browse the Lender Directory
Start with our curated list of lenders organized by credit score range, loan size, and funding speed. Each lender has different approval criteria — match yourself to the right starting point.
⏱ Takes 5 minutes
2
Pre-Qualify with a Soft Pull
Click through to 2–3 lenders and complete their pre-qualification form. This uses a soft credit inquiry — zero impact to your score. You'll see your rate and loan amount in minutes, not days.
✓ No credit impact · Results in minutes
3
Accept Your Offer(s)
Review each offer carefully — compare the APR, term length, and monthly payment. If one lender doesn't cover your full goal, accept their offer and add a second lender to fill the gap. This is stacking.
💡 Stack 2–3 lenders to hit your exact goal
4
Funds Hit Your Account
Once you formally accept and complete any required verification, the lender deposits directly to your bank account. Most clients receive funds within 1–3 business days. Then: secure your GCN package and get moving.

Application Strategy
Apply to 2–3 Lenders Simultaneously
Don't apply to one, wait for rejection, then try another. Pre-qualifying with multiple lenders at the same time is completely fine and dramatically speeds up the process. Each pre-qual is a soft pull.
What Lenders Actually Look At
It's More Than Your Credit Score
Modern lenders evaluate multiple factors:
  • Your credit score (but often weighted less than you think)
  • Monthly income and employment stability
  • Debt-to-income ratio (keep under 50%)
  • Payment history on existing accounts
  • Length of credit history
Hard vs. Soft Pull
Understand the Difference
Soft pull: Used for pre-qualification. No credit impact. You can do this with dozens of lenders.

Hard pull: Only happens when you formally accept a loan offer. This does affect your credit — but typically by only 2–5 points temporarily. Plan to do your hard pulls close together if stacking.
Timing Advice
Don't Wait Until You Need It Urgently
Start the process at least 2–3 weeks before your GCN event or package deadline. This gives you time to compare offers, stack if needed, and handle any verification requests without rushing.

Ways to Improve Your Approval Odds Right Now
  • Lower your credit utilization below 30% — pay down any card balances before applying. This can move your score 20–40 points quickly.
  • Don't apply for new credit 30 days before — each hard inquiry temporarily lowers your score. Time your applications strategically.
  • Show strong, stable income — lenders like Upstart weight income heavily. If you have multiple income streams, make sure they're documented.
  • Apply to income-forward lenders first — Upstart and LendingPoint use AI models that weigh your career trajectory and income more than your raw credit score.
  • Try multiple lenders — each has a different model. Being declined by one says nothing about your odds with another.
Key Metric: Debt-to-Income Ratio
Keep Your DTI Under 50%
Most personal lenders want your total monthly debt payments (including the new loan) to be under 50% of your gross monthly income.
Monthly Debts ÷ Gross Monthly Income = DTI%
Example: $2,000/month in debts ÷ $6,000/month income = 33% DTI ✓ Approved zone. If your DTI is high, focus on paying down existing balances before applying — or choose a lender with a higher DTI tolerance.
The GCN Strategy

How to Stack Funding
Like a Pro

You don't need a single lender to cover everything. Combining multiple approvals — called stacking — is the most common strategy GCN clients use to reach their full goal.

1
Start with your highest-approval lender — usually Upstart or Upgrade. Pre-qualify and note the amount they offer you.
2
Calculate the gap — subtract their offer from your goal. That's how much you need from a second lender.
3
Pre-qualify with a second lender — LendingPoint, Avant, or Best Egg are good second options that use different approval models.
4
Accept both offers close together — hard pulls bunched within 14–30 days are treated more favorably by credit bureaus than spread-out applications.
5
Add personal funds if needed — even $1,000–$2,500 from savings can close the gap and let you reach your exact goal.

Important Note on Stacking
When stacking, lenders will see your new inquiries. Apply to all lenders within a short window (14–30 days) and disclose any pending applications when asked — most lenders ask "do you have any pending loan applications?" Answer honestly. Transparency protects your approval.
Common Questions

Everything You've Wondered About

Will checking my rate hurt my credit score?
No. Every lender on our list offers a soft pull pre-qualification, which has zero impact on your credit score. Your score is only affected when you formally accept a loan offer and a hard inquiry is run — typically a temporary 2–5 point dip.
What credit score do I need to get approved?
Some lenders like Oportun and OneMain have no minimum credit score. Upstart and Avant accept scores as low as 580. For the widest selection and best rates, a score of 670+ is ideal — but you have options at almost any score.
Is GCN a lender? Do you charge fees?
No, GCN is not a lender. We curate a directory of vetted lenders and may receive referral compensation from our lending partners when you apply. You pay nothing extra to GCN — the lender's normal rate applies, the same rate you'd get going directly.
How fast can I get the money?
Most lenders on our list fund within 1–3 business days of accepting your offer. Upgrade and Kabbage often fund the same day. SBA loans take 30–90 days — plan accordingly if you go that route.
Can I use multiple lenders at the same time?
Yes — this is called stacking, and it's completely legal and common. Apply to 2–3 lenders within a short window (ideally 14–30 days). The hard pulls are then treated more leniently by credit bureaus. Be honest with each lender about pending applications when asked.
What's the difference between a personal loan and a business loan for this?
Personal loans require no business history or revenue — approval is based on your personal credit and income. Business loans require established revenue (typically $30K–$100K+/year) and 6–12+ months in business. Most GCN clients start with personal loans for speed and accessibility.
What if I get declined by a lender?
Don't stop there. Different lenders use completely different approval models. Being declined by Upstart says nothing about your odds with LendingPoint. Try at least 3 lenders across different tiers before concluding you won't qualify. Our full directory organizes them by approval flexibility.
Can I talk to someone at GCN about which lenders to try?
Absolutely. Call us at (800) 277-2848 or schedule a free strategy call. Our advisors can help you identify the right lenders based on your credit profile, income, and funding goal — at no cost and no obligation.
