Pittsburgh's long-running software accelerator, operated by the non-profit Innovation Works.
AlphaLab is run by Innovation Works, a Pittsburgh non-profit, and is one of the longest-running accelerators outside the coastal hubs. A sibling programme, AlphaLab Gear, serves hardware and physical product companies.
Its role in the region is structural: Pittsburgh has substantial research output through Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh, and AlphaLab is one of the primary routes from that research into companies.
AlphaLab's alumni reflect Pittsburgh's specialisms — robotics, autonomous systems, medical devices, and enterprise software rooted in university research.
The programme's value is regional depth: for a Pittsburgh company, it is the most direct connection to local capital and to Carnegie Mellon's technical community.
Global Capital Network connects accelerator graduates with investors ready for the next round.
