A London venture creator that builds science companies from first principles rather than from existing research.
Deep Science Ventures inverts the usual spinout model. Rather than commercialising research that already exists, it identifies a problem, works out what scientific approach would actually solve it, and then recruits scientists to build that company.
The result is companies designed around the solution required, rather than around whichever technology happened to emerge from a laboratory.
Companies formed through the model work in carbon removal, novel therapeutics, agricultural inputs, and computing hardware.
The approach is unusual enough that it is now studied as an alternative to conventional university technology transfer.
