A non-profit, equity-free accelerator for founders affiliated with Stanford University.
StartX is a non-profit accelerator open to founders with a Stanford affiliation — students, faculty, alumni, and researchers. Unlike almost every other well-known programme, it takes no equity and charges no fee.
Its economics work because it is funded philanthropically and through a separate fund structure rather than through cohort ownership, which changes the relationship: StartX has no position to protect and no pressure to push companies toward a demo-day narrative.
The StartX community spans enterprise software, medical devices, and biotechnology, reflecting the breadth of Stanford's research base rather than concentrating in consumer technology.
Its distinguishing asset is density: a large alumni network within a single university's orbit, which makes warm introductions unusually easy to obtain.
Global Capital Network connects accelerator graduates with investors ready for the next round.
