Mainland China's largest exchange, home to state-owned giants and the technology-focused STAR Market.
The Shanghai Stock Exchange was founded in 1990 and is the larger of mainland China's two main exchanges. Its main board lists many of China's largest state-owned banks, energy and industrial companies.
The STAR Market, launched in 2019, was China's first test of registration-based IPOs and focuses on technology and innovation companies. Registration-based IPOs were extended across China's exchanges in 2023.
